Development of Cellulose Aerogel as a New Material for the Reduction of Harmful Substances in Cigarette Smoke

The current study proposes a novel and improved cigarette filtration design comprising cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) powdered activated carbons (PACs) with different dry matter contents. proposed filter samples were primarily analyzed to verify their applicability as filters via measurements standard tests, such SEM, BET, DSC, airflow permeability analysis. results compared the acetate (CA) sample used conventional filter. preliminary indicated noticeable improvement reference CA. Also, cigarettes tested using smoking machine, filtered smoke was GC–MS evaluate filters' performance in reducing harmful substances present smoke. showed that made of CNF PAC significantly decreased toxic but did not affect nicotine substantially therefore will negatively impact trance level smokers.
